2015 Silver Slugger Award

Slugger makes the 915, 715, 515 and Catalyst for 2015 but they also make a metal bat worth a little bit more: The Silver Slugger.

The Silver Slugger award is a coveted MLB relic presented by Louisville Slugger to an individual in each position of each league that wins a league wide vote. Each club gets four ballots and is asked to select the players they feel are the best offensive producers at each position. However, they CANNOT vote for a player on their own team.

(See past winners here)

Each league has 9 winners. The national league awards one to a pitcher (like Zach Greinke in 2013) and in the American league one designated hitter is awarded (like David Ortiz in 2013). Outfielders are lumped into the same pile (so you could have 3 center fielders).

The actual bat is a drop 4: 34 inches and 30 ounces. This, we guess, wouldn’t allow it to pass BBCOR regulations. It is a polished aluminum and designed like the C271. We have absolutely no idea what the swing weight is but if anyone reading happens to own one of these and can send it on to us we’d be appreciative.

Winners are announced in November in a one hour awards telecast on the MLB network.
