The Typhoon is a no frills bat. That is, there is really nothing special about it. You should expect nothing short of a pretty simple bat. The people that tend to like it are budget conscience and are new to baseball.
There are very few single piece aluminum bats in the drop 12 space. If you can swing a bit heavier bat, and a bit more in the budget, we suggest you take a close look at the Slugger 518 Omaha. Otherwise, if your budget is firm and/or you really need a drop 12 the Easton Typhoon is as good a bat as any that you’ll find at the price. Easton’s impressive distribution and the drop 12’s unique price point and swing weight make it a very popular option. It is is one of the more popular bats you’ll find for these very reasons.
The 2019 Easton Typhoon is a single piece aluminum. This differs from other bats that either use a full composite construction or a two piece design. A ful piece aluminum bat is the most inexpensive bat type on the market.
It does have a unique Easton grip that is a 2.2mm. It’s thickness is considerably more than any other grip on the market. Even Lizard Skin’s thickest grip is only 1.5mm.
The Typhoon is a drop 12 bat with a max length of 32-inches. The drop, you should know, is the numerical difference between the length of the bat in inches and the weight of the bat in ounces. So, a 32-inch drop 12 should weigh around 20 ounces.
The 2019 version comes in as short as a 29 and as long as a 32 inch. This weight of 17 to 20 ounces fits well for 8 to 10 year olds.
The bat is a USA Bat. This means it has a certain performance standard that allows it to be used in USA leagues. To see more of those see here.
