From Just Bat Reviews to Bat Digest. Nothing really is changing, except for the header. At least for now.

In the minor long run much of the justbatreviews.com site will continue to host our articles. As we see fit, and as Google seems prone not to dock our rankings, we will migrate to the batdigest.com. Either URL, batdigest.com or justbatreviews.com will work for our readers and we suspect they will notice no difference, aside from the header.

Why?

  1. We’ve come a long way since our first review almost 4 years ago. We’ll reach nearly 2,000,000 unique people this year. We’ve added 4 writers who pump out about an article a week. We’ve written over 500 review and recommendation articles and something like 450,000 words. That’s 3/4 of the Bible. As such, the name Bat Digest better encompasses the catalog of information we have created and the future of what we hope to offer.
  2.  Despite our similar names, we are not affiliated with JustBats.com. A major focus of our site is providing independent reviews. Thus, we feel the name Bat Digest prevents confusion over our objectivity. As much as we enjoy relationships with vendors and manufacturers, we are loyal only to readers in providing data free from marketing and sales number hype.
  3. As we’ve grown, we are no longer just bat reviews. We get a considerable amount of traffic in our gear reviews section, for example. Another significant piece of the site (which watched MLB player bats) was moved because the topic didn’t feel germane. We are excited for the broader scope of Bat Digest. Our expectation is that we’ll have more latitude incorporating more ball-related reader interests.
  4. As we build from the foundation of Just Bat Reviews, we look forward to Bat Digest reaching its potential as a world class publication with dedicated readership like Guns & Ammo or Consumer Reports. We are not the product of a marketing scheme or an attempt to finagle Google rankings and social followings. This is authentic stuff. JBR was a model born out of a dad’s desperation to find objective information on a bat or two for his son. Bat Digest will take the torch because we are in good company. We thank you for your support throughout the years and misspellings and poor formatting.  The future is bright.
