(Slugger Released FIVE different 2016 Z4000 slow pitch softball bats. Three are made for USSSA play, the other two are for ASA play. You can read each of those reviews here: ASA End loaded, ASA Balanced, USSSA Endload, USSSA Balanced, USSSA Power Load.)
While we are indeed in love with the entire 2016 line of Slugger’s Z4000 slow pitch softball bats, we reserve a special place in our hearts for the new iteration of bomb dropping foolery: the 2016 1.5 ounce end loaded Z4000 Shoppe Blackman. This bat is the future feature of missile making video montages.
Also, the bat is approved for USSSA play and is a 1.5 ounce end load USSSA slow pitch bat. It is made specifically for those who drink more than 12 protein shakes a day. It also has a special stamp approving it in leagues that have an unlimited supply of softballs.
On a more serious note, like the other Z4000 bats, the Power Load is made of three pieces. They are:
- Full composite barrel measuring 12 inches long with 2 1/4 diameter.
- 7/8 tapered full composite handle with synthetic grip.
- A rubber insert (called the Tru3 connective piece) found in the transition point between the barrel and handle.
The bat also comes with a sand paper grit to the barrel finish. We like the feel of that because of its rugged feel. It does not, however, increase any ball rotation enough to make the balls actually fly further (like some vendors claim in their youtube videos). However, assuming you can swing this bat, it’s not like you’d even need that if it did exist.
Overall we find the Z4000 highly recommendable for USSSA league players looking for top shelf performance and maximum distance—who also have the guns to bang it. The 1.5 ounce end load is the largest of its class and, when hit on the oversized 12 inch 2 1/4 barrel, ding dong the witch is dead. It’s the solution for a power hitter looking for the maximum amount of umph he can find in a 2016 slow pitch softball bat.
Currently, the bat is not released until March. But in the meantime, it appears you can start searching for some covert releases here.
